Week 12: My comments on the Movie "Me and You and Everyone We Know"

Me and You and Everyone We Know is by far the most awkward and funny movie I have ever seen in that sense. This film took me on a journey through various scenarios that I found bizarre, stingy, and humorous all at the same time. All of the characters were so bizarre in their execution of all of the scenarios that it was difficult to watch at times. However, watching it in two parts allowed me to take a break and reflect on the movie's motivations. Surprisingly, I ended up loving the film's creativity as well as understanding the film's message.
This was not the type of movie I would have chosen to see before seeing it in class. Despite my lack of interest, this film was shown in class after 12 weeks of taking this film class. Because of my respect for the work that goes into making a movie, I learned in this class to give all kinds of movies a chance. So I concluded it was unfair to judge a book by its cover and devoted my entire attention to attempting to comprehend the major purpose or message of the film, Me and You and Everyone We Know.
What did I take away from this film? Me and You and Everyone We Know is a very challenging movie at first, but if you give it a chance and attempt to understand the major theme, you will eventually realize that it depicts how real-world individuals interact and connect with each other despite the awkwardness and unfavorable actions. However, this movie could be interpreted as promoting pedophilia, but I do not believe we should look into that. Instead, I believe we should remember what this movie depicts: people from all generations, backgrounds, ages, and so on trying to connect with each other, even if those connections are cringy and actually against the law.
