Week 16: Final Thoughts with Black Adam

My final thoughts are those of gratitude to all the knowledge I got from week 1 to week 16. I learn that I movie has three parts or acts: setup, confrontation, and resolution. I also learn more about shot angles and had to have a hands on experience with the fascinating project. One movie I would love to propose for spring 2023 is the Black Adam. It displays a nation that was enslaved but got emancipated by a diety under the name of Black Adam. Black Adam is a hero who is powerful and protect the people: that's the set up. However, somewhere in the middle of the movie the hero is facing confrontation with his identity as the savior of the subjugated nation. Lastly, Black Adam will be encouraged to use his power to do good and emancipate the subjugated people. I watch this movie during Week 10 and I thought it was one of the best embodiement of the three acts concept in the filmmaking. Week 15: Wrap Party

What a better time to wrap up and look back before I took this film class. In today's blog, I will talk about my favorite screenings, what I loved about them and what I learned from them. In addition, I will talk about what I discovered about my self as a film spectator. Wrapping up is not always easy, especially when you are saying goodbye to people, which not a lot of people are good at including me. Anyway, let's talk about film. My favorite media viewing was Rear Window. A part from the fact that Jeff, one of the main character, was weird in the way he treated his to be girlfriend with a mysogynistc inclunation, I loved how the movie embodied all three acts and was easy to follow. I believe the movie lesson for me was, not to judge a book as its cover. Most people are not as we assume them to be. Lastly, I believe there is one important thing I got form taking this class. Week 14: The Social Dilemma

The social Dilemma is defenitely one of my favorite documentaries providing an overview of how social media's design could be used to manipulate people's views by making it very addictive. Not only, it is addictive, but it is also used to spread fake news and conspiracy theories. I can see how this is related to the way movie can only be used to misinform people or create some sort of addiction. In one of the videos watched in class, you can clearly see that the director is focalizing on showing the human female body from top to bottom. What is scary is that there is no clear reason why for example, a camera would focus on the human female torso or midsection just for an engine check. Lastly, I can say there is danger in the way social media is designed. I am very worried about younger generation who really values likes on various platform as acceptance in this society. Week 13: Jaws

Week 13 was one of my favorites because we had a media watching that I really appreciated and served as a great illustration of what I've learned in this course. "Jaws" was the movie being watched. This class enjoyed watching the movie. It helped me to realize how filmmaking has evolved. I would say that the fact that everything was well-organized, presented in an understandable order, and had excellent acting really pleased me. The film was fantastic all around. It was incredible to observe a sheriff, a marine biologist, and a seafarer together toward the same objective. What made this movie's scene even better was the inclusion of all three acts. In the first act, beachgoers were having a good time, but there was a problem: a shark was engulfing and devouring individuals. Week 12: My comments on the Movie "Me and You and Everyone We Know"

Me and You and Everyone We Know is by far the most awkward and funny movie I have ever seen in that sense. This film took me on a journey through various scenarios that I found bizarre, stingy, and humorous all at the same time. All of the characters were so bizarre in their execution of all of the scenarios that it was difficult to watch at times. However, watching it in two parts allowed me to take a break and reflect on the movie's motivations. Surprisingly, I ended up loving the film's creativity as well as understanding the film's message. This was not the type of movie I would have chosen to see before seeing it in class. Despite my lack of interest, this film was shown in class after 12 weeks of taking this film class. Because of my respect for the work that goes into making a movie, I learned in this class to give all kinds of movies a chance. Week 11: Fascinating Project Media Viewing

My favorite aspect of the assignment was the engaging project media viewing. Not only did I see and admire the outcome of my acting, but I was also moved to cheer an outstanding performance by classmates (other project groups). From beginning to end, everything developed content demonstrated how much effort this film class dedicated to creating videos that were, in my opinion, incredibly appealing in terms of quality and message behind them. Despite the lack of sophisticated materials used by professional movie makers, all videos were beautifully done and polished. Nothing is more significant than watching a video created by one of your classmates or a student in a film class. The week of media viewing was so much fun, and I adored all of my classmates' work: I'm crying as I write this. Week 10: Fascinating Project

The engaging assignment was one of my favorite parts of this semester. I finally realized the major aim of this lesson while working on this project. As a visual learner, this was an excellent opportunity for me to finally visualize the materials acquired in class through this hands-on project. This initiative also allowed me to connect with classmates, particularly those with whom I worked on the project. The idea of camera angles and set design became evident. I learned about the complexities of acting through this wonderful assignment. I realized that a good movie is more than just a collection of images or videos; it is also about the movie's content and aim. This is communicated through performing. In this endeavor, I acted as a referee in a boxing match. I was fascinated by how adaptive it was for me to play the position of a referee while never having been one.
