Week 14: The Social Dilemma

The social Dilemma is defenitely one of my favorite documentaries providing an overview of how social media's design could be used to manipulate people's views by making it very addictive. Not only, it is addictive, but it is also used to spread fake news and conspiracy theories.
I can see how this is related to the way movie can only be used to misinform people or create some sort of addiction. In one of the videos watched in class, you can clearly see that the director is focalizing on showing the human female body from top to bottom. What is scary is that there is no clear reason why for example, a camera would focus on the human female torso or midsection just for an engine check.
Lastly, I can say there is danger in the way social media is designed. I am very worried about younger generation who really values likes on various platform as acceptance in this society. This might endanger their mental health and contribute to suicidal thoughts, if they don't feel accepted by the social media audience. I can say that film has an impact on people's decisions especially when they are young. Characters body shapes are gorgeous and this might induce younger generation to try and look like they film here. Hence, their goal for approval through social media.
